Permitting Status and Construction Timeline
Downeast LNG received local approvals from the town of Robbinston in the spring of 2006. In December of that year, the company filed for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and other federal permits.
In May 2009 FERC issued a Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS), along with the draft Waterway Suitability Report (WSR) and Letter of Recommendation from the U.S. Coast Guard.
Downeast LNG expects to file its state permit applications following the issuance of the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) from FERC (expected in October 2009), with Section 3A/7C Orders and other permits issued by December 2009.
Construction should begin by the end of 2010 or early 2011, with completion by the end of 2013 and an operational terminal in 2014.
